What I'm about to do is very scary. I've always been an extremely goal oriented person. Since I was a kid writing out Christmas wish lists for Santa Claus, I've always written down the things I want and the things I plan on doing. It's been a huge part of any success I've achieved in my life thus far. But I've always been private about my dreams and aspirations. I don't know why. Perhaps I fear ridicule. Perhaps it's because of all the nay sayers out there who make a life's work out of dissuading people from pursuing their goals. However I've changed my way of thinking in recent years. I believe more so now, that there are more good people out there willing to offer up encouragement and constructive advice that will help me in my endeavors. I also believe and have learned of the positive effects of accountability. Now that people know what I want, there will be more people around too keep tabs on my progress. That may be just the motivation I need stay focused and get things done.
I've already seen many, many goals achieved in my life. I've played in bands, traveled, flown airplanes and gliders, surfed, raced cars, married the woman of my dreams, started a family and become my own boss. To be honest, I'm quite satisfied. But since I'm not dead yet, I might as well spend the rest of my days to the fullest. I'm not through yet.
